About our Church
Central United Reform Church is situated on the main A666 Bolton to Blackburn road on the edge of Darwen town centre and has been a witness there since 1853. A new church sanctuary has been erected on the site adjoining the hall.
This church is very active and over 400 people per week use the premises. both church groups and community groups. We have been the host to 1st Darwen Scouts since 1909 and the 1st Darwen Girls Brigade since 1982. There is a good mix of spiritual and social life throughout the year. The Monday Fellowship, our younger women, meet every two weeks and the Womens Guild, our older ladies meet monthly. We have bible study at set periods during the year and Elders and Church meetings.
The Sunday worship is geared, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to meet the needs of the present day world with well planned and meaningful worship. Lay participation is encouraged and a number of the fellowship lead the worship and visit the congregation at home.
