I
was born in Liverpool when it was still in Lancashire
and moved to Cheshire when I was seven. After leaving
secondary school I spent seven years as an art student
completing a degree in Fashion and Textiles and interestingly
sold a wallpaper design here in Darwen!
Then followed seven years as a Technical Lecturer at Live
Poly as Liverpool's higher education establishment was
then known. During a brief spell with the charity Help
the Aged, God called me into Local Preacher training and
after a slightly longer spell with NCH, God called me
to presbyteral ministry. I then spent two years at Wesley
House, Cambridge training for the ministry; first stationed
in the Accrington and Haslingden Circuit my probationer's
trial sermon was conducted in Darwen.
Eight years later I began service to North Lancs Methodist
District as Synod Secretary and then to Lytham St Annes
for a further eight years, continuing as Synod secretary,
and working in the Lytham Ecumenical Partnership. Following
this seven years were then spent in Cumbria.
In a sense I felt called home to Lancashire with the invitation
to share in the work of the Darwen Churches Partnership.
My style of ministry is, I hope, collaborative, my main
emphases are worship; church life, especially amongst
young people; social justice and world development issues
are key interests. I look forward to ministry together
here in Darwen.
